Palouse
River Route
Garfield, WA to Moscow ID
35 Miles
This
stretch of track was built in 1910 by the Northern Pacific Railroad. During the
merger rail traffic was getting severely low and Burlington Northern eventually
sold it to the Blue Mountain Railroad in 1992. After the failure of BLMR in
1999 it was sold to Palouse River and Grand Coulee City Railroad (PCC), which in
2005 became the Washington and Idaho Railway. As of September 2013 the WIR
ended use of the trackage south of Fallon. It is
still used for storing tank cars and container cars for BNSF. The era for this
route is set in 1972 to 1999.
The most common commodities for this
route are lentils, wheat, fertilizer, lumber, and storage cars.
